"Tiny Steps to Success"

“Tiny Steps to Success”
Texas Baptist College Spring Semester
February 12, 2008

Amazingly, it’s the little things that make you a success or a failure in every area of your life.  Pay attention to the seemingly insignificant in your life and the big problems will be easier to handle.  When I analyze an area of my life that is weak I can get it down to one of these "small" areas...

1. Daily Bible Reading and Prayer time (with a list).
2. Be where you’re supposed to be, on time.
·      Sunday School/Church/Meetings
·      Your assigned Bus Route or ministry
·      Work, as scheduled
·      College Class
3. Tithe every Sunday morning, give an offering on “off” weeks.
4. Maintain your space, purse, book bag, closet, drawers, etc…
5. Eat three meals a day. Get at least ____ hours of sleep - you know the number of hours needed.
6. Take a multi-vitamin every day.
7. Water - Drink half of your body weight in ounces daily. (weigh 120 lbs. = 60 oz. of water daily, I drink a little more than that!)
8. Use the envelope system for your budget and bills.
·      Cash your paycheck
·      Get money orders for: tithe/school bill/monthly bills
·      Put cash in envelopes for: personal items/car/ministry - keep a list of needed/wanted items.
·      Have a savings account or give to your parents to keep.
9. Greet everyone you meet.  Include others in conversations.
10. Take advice from your teachers and advisors – seriously.  The Lord will not tell you to go against the guidance of your given authority, unless it is unscriptural.
11. Don’t go to bed angry or guilty.  Your conscience will be hardened.
12. File your nails every day.  Scrub them each time you wash your hands.
13. Put everything in its place every night before you go to bed.
14. Floss your teeth daily.  Use whitening strips every three months.
15. Write “thank-you” notes right away.
16. Try to apply one truth to your life from each sermon or lesson that you hear (try it at least once that week).  You’ll succeed more times than you fail, even if you fail, you’ll be better than if you didn’t try.
17. Tell the truth.
18. Allow the Holy Spirit to correct small problems in your life.
19. Pay attention to babies and children, elderly, crippled, and needy.
20. Compliment teenagers when they do something right.
21. Try to see the positive in every situation.  Romans 8:28
22. Never underestimate the influence of a small step in the right direction.
23. Gossip less this week.
24. Smile more.
Proverbs 30
There be four things which are little upon the earth,but they are exceeding wise:
25  The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
26  The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
27  The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
28  The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.
